Frequently Asked Questions
There are four primary benefits of the Isolite System:
Isolite is suitable for almost all dental procedures where quick, reliable isolation and better illumination are needed. (Click here to see a list of commonly performed procedures which can be performed faster and more comfortably for the patient using Isolite.)
A system is defined as a group of interrelated or interdependent elements forming a complex whole. The elements that make up the Isolite — light source, mouthpiece, vacuum hose, and various controllers by themselves might be able to perform one dental task, but in combination they create a powerful synergy that makes the Isolite a one of a kind multi-duty assisting tool.
The Isolite mouthpiece is the heart of the system. It delivers superior illumination, superior isolation and superior aspiration.
By lighting the patient's oral cavity from within the mouth, Isolite provides a unique shadowless illumination that is unmatched. Unlike conventional lighting, light emanating from the Isolite mouthpiece cannot be blocked by practitioners' head or hands. Clear, bright illumination reduces eyestrain for the practitioner and allows better visibility of the working field. Strain associated with headlamps or movement of the overhead lamp are greatly reduced or eliminated.
The flexible mouthpiece more effectively and comfortably replaces numerous isolation devices. Aspiration and oral humidity control are so complete that testing demonstrated that isolation accomplished via Isolite is drier than a rubber dam.
Yes! Hygienists love using Isolite because it is like having an extra set of hands. They find Isolite particularly useful for quad scalings and sealants. Another big plus: continuous aspiration via Isolite reduces operatory airborne aerosols by up to 75%!
Easy-to-insert and comfortable for the patient, the Isolite mouthpiece can be inserted in only a few seconds and removed even more quickly. We suggest that you practice your mouthpiece insertion technique before trying it on patients. Guides for mouthpiece insertion are included in your Isolite Guide Manual and are also available online. Of course, if you would like additional help with instructions or technique we are always glad to help! Please phone our customer support hotline at: 800-560-6066.
